Dropping out of school in the 7th grade, she battled addiction, faced legal challenges, and eventually earned her GED at 16.5. As a young medical advocate for her mother and later as a widow and single mother, Megan’s life was marked by adversity. Despite these challenges, she became a Gemologist at G.I.A. and specialized in fancy colored diamond color analysis.

Megan's experience of placing her daughter for adoption in 2008 highlighted the stark lack of support for birth mothers. This deeply personal experience ignited her passion to create Birthmom Buddies, an organization that provides comprehensive emotional, financial, and advocacy support for birth mothers.

Fund-Nation: Empowering Through Financial Literacy

In addition to Birthmom Buddies, Megan Pater is the founder of Fund-Nation, a loan brokerage with aspirations to become a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Fund-Nation focuses on financial literacy, grant writing services, and alternative funding solutions, particularly for rural communities.

Megan's strategic approach to grant writing has won over $5 million in funding for various organizations in just two years. Her BACK program in Boron, CA, integrates Universal Basic Income (UBI), Individual Development Accounts (IDAs), and educational programs to address economic instability and educational underachievement.

A Visionary Leader

Megan's life and work are a testament to the power of resilience, authenticity, and a relentless drive to uplift others. Her commitment to financial literacy is evident in her educational programs, including a six-week mentorship program guiding participants in writing grant proposals.
